Hi does anyone have any good recommendations on a web host.
The web host must have the following:
around 5gb+ storage
20gb+ bandwidth
fsockopen enabled
at least 1 mysql database
and a cpanel control panel.

Thanks for all help.

There are many web hosting providers and you might become confused to choose which one. It is very important that you choose a good web host. Good doesn't mean expensive. Good means reliable with great support.

I know you want free web hosting but let me help you by telling you something. Some people try to save money and choose to go with a free web host. They usually realize pretty quickly what a huge mistake that is. I’m all for free whenever possible, but free web hosting will end up costing much more than you save.

But, let's face it - how do you know if a web host is good or not? They all look pretty much the same and they seem like they know what they are doing, right? Well, I recommend reading reviews so that you may compare and become more familiar with the hosting companies before making a decision.

When you choose a web host, make sure they have excellent support. If you have a problem with your web site you want help now, not in a day or two.

www.inmotionhosting.com - uses cPanel and can do all of the things you specified. I host my websites on there, because for relatively cheap you can get UNLIMITED (!) space and bandwidth, plus two MySQL databases. I've found it works very well.

Others:
www.bluehost.com
www.godaddy.com - not sure about this one - they have their own control panel too.

of course, for all these you would have to play around with the settings to get fsockopen enabled.

Hope it helps.

I think the previous person is right. It is confusing to find the best (optimal) web host that yoyou can use. I think that visiting a couple of web host comparison sites will help you find a web host provider that will make the most of your money.

http://www.hostreviewgeeks.com/ will detail the benefits of using each different web host provider, they catalogue the prices, ratings and user reviews into a top ten table that sum up the top web host providers for different hosting type niches. If you browse arounda couple of these sites you will be able to find the web hosts that match the criteria you are looking for specifically. Here is some info from the site I gave you -

"We rank based on the combination of user reviews, overall quality, price, disk space, bandwidth and special features. If you have any questions or need help deciding on a host please contact us" - I think this place will be a good one to start off looking, as it is a review site and not an actual web host provider, making them a lot more trustworhty.

Good luck on you search for a web host!! Hope you find the best one for you...However, if it is free it will really limit your search. I dont think that there will be many free web hosts that will have the criteria you are looking for. Web hosting isnt expensive so you should consider spending a few dollars lol.

I really think free web hosting is a waste of time. You have to deal with ugly 3rd party banners and things like that all over your site. Kind of takes away the "your" in your site. You should consider going to a website like http://www.hostgumbo.com ... they have an up to date pricing and features comparison chart for the top 2009 web hosts. The site is free to use and they also run really cool promotions and giveaways. They will pay for the first 3 months of your hosting no matter which one of their advertised hosts you decide to use!
