When I play The Sims 3, it runs very slow and an error message comes up everytime I play saying "The ialmrnt5 display driver has stopped working normally. Save your work and reboot the system to restore full display functionality. The next time you reboot the machine a dialog will be displayed giving you a chance to upload data about this failure to Microsoft."

I honestly have no idea what this means. When I first installed the game, it worked fine. There were no errors or anything, but now it is doing this.

Can anyone help with this?

I am using a Dell Inspirion E1505 notebook and using Windows XP. It is fairly new.

I don't know if I have to adjust the settings in The Sims 3, or on my PC.

Also, I already changed the settings in The Sims 3 to reduce the sharpness in the game, allowing for faster play, but this has not done anything.

Thanks for any help! I appreciate it, and will be at peace of mind knowing I did not waste $50 on this game or have to buy a new computer!

It could be your video card. Most notebooks don't come with a very good card. It could be that.

I agree with d.san83 - it's probably your video card. It's a great game - hope you get it to work! :)
