So I came upon an auction on ebay the otherday for a Canon GL2 camcorder. It said to contact the owner via email. I did and he said that he would let me BIN 400. He sent me the transaction and told me this:
I will ship you the products immediately after I have the confirmation of payment from you.You will have just to go to a western union office and fill in a form with my name and address. Once the payment is accomplished, i will wait your email with the payment confirmation :
-the sender name
-the sender address
-the amount
-MTCN (money transfer control number)
Now I'm waiting your mail with the payment details so i can verify the payment confirmation and i can start the delivery process. In the meantime i will prepare the item for ship..When i have the payment confirmation i will start the delivery process. You will receive it from UPS in max 3-4 working days. There is 14 days money back guarantee(if you don't like it you can send it back and get your money back).
Let me know

So i asked if i could pay with paypal because its safer and he says:
Unfortunately I can't use paypal, i have already exceeded my account limit this and i use paypal just with my old favorite customers. I never use paypal in a first deal with the client because i was scammed in the past for many times. Just because of this I set up an insurance with ebay which guaranties 100 % of this deal. With this insurance you will receive a full refound from Ebay. You don't need to worry because I have a buyer protection insurance on eBay. If something happens you will refunded by them directly from my account. More, i will provide 14 days money back warranty, i mean, if in 14 days you will change your mind you will resend the item to me on my expenses. I think this is more than fair. I hope we can finalize this deal in the best manner. You will have my personal quarentee you will receive the item immediately without questions... i promise. i keep my word in every part of this deal.
Please email the payment information so i can schedule the shipping for you.
Thanks

So I'm not sure if I'm going to be scammed or not.
Please help me out and give me some ideas on the subject.

Betcha the Canon GL2 camcorder was for a knockdown prIce. That's the hook. Your greed for a bargain is what will make this scam work. All your initial instincts which are telling you that this deal is too good to be true are being overridden by your greed.

Western Union's advice on using their service is NEVER send money via Western Union to anyone you don't know personally. WHY? Because you might as well set fire to it. The result is exactly the same.

The language of the 'seller' is a dead give away." hope we can finalize this deal in the best manner. You will have my personal quarentee you will receive the item immediately without questions... i promise. i keep my word in every part of this deal"

You know you are being scammed. Is your greed going to allow a conman with a fraction of your intelligence and education get the better of you?

Never use Western Union to pay for eBay purchases (I think they even have something on ebay.com stating this). With western union, there's no way of knowing who you're sending the money to. You provide them with a code or password after you send the money, and thats all they need to collect it. After that, its gone. THere's no way to get the money back if there's a problem. If they won't accept paypal, its likely a scam

Please don't do this. It definitely sounds like a scam to me, and if I think it even has a slight chance of being a scam I assume that it is. Save yourself the frustration and headache - once you wire that money it's gone and so is this guy.

Honestly I don't even think Paypal has a limit but there's alot of this that sounds fishy. Do yourself a favor and assume it's a scam. Maybe even report it to ebay.
