i am trying to replace the water pump in a 1995 chevy cavalier 2.2. i am not sure how to relieve the belt tensioner to remove the serp. belt. any suggestions?

Belt tensioner has a 3/8 square in it. use a(if you have)long handle ratchet.. Or it may be the bolt on the pulley.
To replace the belt tensioner, is to remove the (big 0)plate there.It is all one piece.
Loosen the bolts to the W/P pulley before removing the belt.Watch the Knuckles !

yea dont give a bad review for this but if you can't take that of without asking questions you better make a detail list of what your taking of in order an size of bolts o yea an most 2.2 you dont have to take the timing cover of it's take of the pump from the back i belive it sit on an adapter that rides on timing chain look before you tear down hope this helps

use a 3/8s rachet.there is an opening for it to fit into and if it doesnt have the 3/8s hole in it use a socket on the bolt to take the tensionoff the belt.you DO NOT need a serpentine belt remover tool

Yea summitracing has a serpentine belt remover... If not, do it the easy way and get a prybar.
