How can I write an email to a friend in Germany who does not read English? Is there a way to write in English and translate it to German before I send it?

The best way is to write it in English and post it here in languages to have it translated by a native speaker. Online translators are not a good option. They are okay for single words, but not for sentences. If you use an online translator, your German friend will not know what you mean.

If you speak no German at all, you should probably find someone you know who does to help you out. If you don't know anybody who speaks German, just go online and see if you can find some kind souls who do. XD Make sure you say that you're trying to talk to your friend, though, or they might think you want them to do your homework for you or something.

Never use online translators if you actually want yourself to be understood, because they can't take into account things that differ between languages, like word order and multiple meanings of words. For example, if you put "My brother is always eating" into Google translate, you'll get "Mein Bruder ist immer essen" which is totally wrong because in German, you don't include a form of "to be" when you're talking in the present tense. It would be "Mein Bruder isst immer." (isst being the relevant conjugation of the verb essen)

Forget the online translators! Their translations are ridiculous. They have no idea of the German language or of German grammar. And the German grammar is complicate enough.
But you can ask this community for a translation. Perhaps sentence by sentence. I do also like that, but I need not a hole letter translated. Or you send me a Mail. I am going to do my best.

There are a number of free online translators. Try Googling around to see which one works for you.
